Carried by Light | Edition One

The first edition of Carried by Light: a story of love, change and the small rituals that bring us back to ourselves.

In September 2022, I found myself in a season of change. I was still in my corporate role, but my heart was searching for something more. The loss of someone I loved had changed the texture of everyday life, and I was slowly finding my way through it. I longed for a little inner warmth, for small moments that could bring me back to myself.

On one cold autumn day, my thoughts wandered back to Mykonos.

To the quieter island I knew and loved. Early light on whitewashed walls. Salt lingering on my skin after a swim. Warm stone and wild herbs in the afternoon air.

But it was more than a place I missed. It was a feeling of ease, of being present in my own skin. The pleasure of caring for myself without rushing. Breathing in a beautiful scent and letting my thoughts wander.

I began to wonder: could I create something that would bring that feeling into everyday life, wherever I happened to be?

That was when the idea of Seas of Sunshine took hold.

A few drops, a moment to yourself

What I imagined was a gentle ritual.

Smoothing something clean and nourishing onto my skin after a shower. Feeling the oil beneath my hands, noticing the scent as it warmed on my skin. Taking a little longer before getting dressed.

A simple moment, but one that could change how the rest of the day felt.

I wanted to create something I could enjoy on my skin and feel in my mind and soul. A scent that stayed close while allowing my imagination to travel. Somewhere familiar, somewhere longed for, perhaps somewhere I had never been.

The idea began to fill my mind. I kept returning to it, imagining textures, fragrances and the little moments they might become part of. At a time when I needed comfort and a sense of possibility, there was something magical about an idea that offered both.

The humble beauty of Greek olive oil

At the heart of it was Greek olive oil.

I have always loved its purity and humble simplicity. It is so deeply woven into Greek life that we can almost forget how beautiful it is. Familiar, generous, part of the everyday.

It felt like the most honest place to begin.

Our hero product, Pure Beach Sun Drops, is a perfumed nutrient oil for face, body and hair, made with an olive oil base and produced in Greece by Eolia. The scent profiles were developed with Galimard, giving each fragrance its own character and mood.

For me, the beauty was in bringing these worlds together: the simplicity of Greek olive oil and the artistry of fine fragrance.

The olive oil brought a sense of home. The scent opened up the possibility of going anywhere.

That combination became the heart of Seas of Sunshine.

Rooted in Greece, free to travel

Scent has a wonderful way of moving us.

We can be standing in one place and, with a single breath, find ourselves remembering another. A person we love. A summer afternoon. A room we haven’t entered in years. Sometimes a fragrance feels like somewhere we want to go, even if we cannot quite name it.

Those are the olfactory journeys I wanted to explore.

We often choose fragrance by season or occasion. I wanted to begin with how we feel, and how we might like to feel.

A little more grounded before a demanding day. A little more open to somewhere new. Comfortable and at ease on a quiet evening at home.

Seas of Sunshine was inspired in Mykonos, but I never imagined it belonging only to summer, or to an island. Our inspiration travels from sun-warmed shores to mountain air, cool forests and the stillness of winter.

I imagined our products travelling with you, finding a place beside the bathroom mirror, in a suitcase, in the few minutes you keep for yourself.

We’re now preparing to bring Seas of Sunshine to the United States, with a collection planned to grow to eight scents. Each will offer its own mood, its own invitation to wander, while remaining connected to that original ritual of fragrance and care.

Why Carried by Light

I chose this name because the idea began with a longing for warmth, and grew into something I could share.

For me, light is there in the small things we sometimes hurry past. The morning sun falling across a room. A familiar voice. The scent on your skin that makes you pause and breathe a little more deeply.

That is the spirit I hope to bring to this newsletter.

Each month, I’ll share a little of our world: the ingredients and people behind our products, the places that inspire our fragrances, the rituals that make everyday life feel richer, and honest reflections on building Seas of Sunshine.

There will be stories of Greece, but also of wherever life takes us next.

Thank you for being here for this first edition. What began on a cold autumn day, during a tender chapter of my own life, is now finding its way into the lives of others. There is something very special about that.

What scent carries you somewhere, or brings you back to yourself?

I would love to hear.

With light,
